December 7th at 7:00 pm, the choir class and both orchestras had their winter concert in newly finished Combes Gym, making this the second in person concert since the pandemic.
Concert orchestra started off the night and played The Storm Chasers composed by Mark Lortz, Rise of The Olympians composed by Brian Balmages, and closed with Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas arranged by Bob Cerulli.
Following them, the choir sang In Winter composed by Rebecca Rosietier with soloists Cecil Bell and Stephanie Kadima. They also sang Winter Wind composed by Douglas E Wagner, adapted by Sergei Rachmaninoff, White Winter Hymnal composed by Robin Pecknold, arranged by Alan Billingsley, Somewhere in My Memory composed by John Williams, arranged by Mark Hayes, and Glow composed by Eric Whiteacre. They finished with Gloucestershire Wassail the traditional version, with soloists Grace Courtney, Isabel Curtis, Chloe Briskin, Grace Terry, Raine Smith, Tosha Hillman, Cloe Agudelo, Timia Starks, and Anneka McLaughlin.
To close the night was the Chamber orchestra, a class that was only introduced this year. They performed March Slav composed by Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky, arranged by Carrie Lane Gruselle, Fantasia on a 17th Century Tune arranged by Richard A. Stephan, Minotaur composed by Richard Meyer, and Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24 arranged by Bob Philip.
December 8th at 7:00 pm was the band concert. The Symphonic Concert Band kicked off the second night of concerts with The Cave You Fear composed by Michael Markowski , Kentucky 1800 composed by Clare Grundman, and finished with a Christmas classic, Santa Baby composed by Joan Javits, Phil Springer, and Tony Springer, arranged by Michael Brown.
To finish the Winter Concerts was Wind Symphony, who recorded this concert for Super State. They played Esprit De Corps composed by Roer Jager, Allerseelen (All Soul’s Day) composed by Richard Strauss, arranged by Alber Oliver Davis; ed. Frederick Fennell, Chorale and Capriccio composed by Ceaser Giovanni, transposed by Wayne Robinson, and to close the night with a holiday concert tradition, Sleigh Ride composed by Leroy Anderson.
