For this issue, I interviewed Elaine Katherine Somers, although she prefers to be called Lainey. One of the accomplishments that Somers is proud of is keeping a high GPA all four years of her high school career. Throughout the years, Lainey has participated in plenty of extracurricular activities such as Spanish Club, National Honors Society or NHS, Spanish Honors Society, or SHS, basketball, soccer, and tennis. She liked all the sports that she played because she liked the team and because she just liked sports in general. Her plans after high school are to go to Trine to play soccer and to study civil engineering. In 10 years she sees herself being graduated with a degree and a well-paying job. Somers’ favorite high school memory is playing sports. Something that she will miss the most after leaving Central High School: the friends that she was able to make. The class that she enjoyed the most was Yearbook. If Somers had the opportunity to go anywhere in the world, she would go somewhere tropical. Three words that would best describe Somers are: outgoing, athletic, and friendly. Upon leaving CHS, Somers would like to be remembered as someone people enjoyed being around. 3 things that Somers must do in her lifetime are skydiving, scuba diving, and traveling to all 50 states. Some words of advice that Somers would offer: “You only live once, do what makes you happy.”
I had a great time getting to know Lainey, I found her to be very nice to talk with. All her accomplishments were very impressive, as well as her extracurricular activities. I found her words of advice to be very inspiring because it helps influence others and younger students to strive for the same accomplishments.
