Leaves!

The assignment for this project was to go outside and take pictures of leaves on film. While shooting for this assignment I thought mainly about how I can actually capture levases in an interesting way and not just take a picture of a leaf. I looked at all the different types of leaves outside which each had their own individual designs and patterns on them and were laying in a different way, a different pose, and I realized quickly that though this project could have been boring (just leaves) It can also be made interesting, unique, and interesting and I think that i did that with the photos that I took. I did actually struggle a little with this project. The first thing that was a struggle for me was that part of my film ripped, but with help from Mr. A, I was able to save the images on the film. The roll of film that I used for whatever reason though ended up being thin and the images came out very light which just made it hard in the darkroom to figure out what apertures to use, what number filter to use, and how long to expose each image for. After many different test strips, finding a balance, and a little help though I produced some really fantastic prints that I am truly proud of. For most of my images, I ended up turning the aperture down to F11, only doing around 6 seconds, and using a number two filter for all my prints to enhance contrast. I really love each of the full individual prints I made but I would have to say that my favorite print I made is the first one on the Google Sites page. I like this print a lot because though I didn't really intend for it to be it came out a little abstract because the pattern of the leaf was like os small and intricate that I kind of think it looks like a close-up of a golf ball and overall I think it is just a really cool image and composition.
