Identity: Community

For this assignment, we were instructed to go and take pictures of basically whatever we wanted. However, these pictures needed to display something about community, and what community means to us. What prompted me most about this project was to take pictures of Freeport town which is where I live and pictures in school as well. I was inspired by some of the artwork on the slideshow that Mr Anderson showed us, particularly Matthew Radar. I liked how Matthew Radar's work was of buildings and structures but there weren't any people I just thought that that was a really interesting take on community. When most people think of community they think of the people of their community and well that very well is an aspect of community in a nutshell it's not the whole aspect of it at least that's how I feel. I really liked Matthew Radar's viewpoint on community and that's kind of the Viewpoint that I took with my photos as well. The reason I chose the time of day that I did was partially because that was the time I had access and availability to take photos but also because I love the way that building lights and street lights look in the dark at night time. I also took some in-motion/drive-by shots while driving ( not me driving but while in a car),  I really like how these images turned out, the blurriness of them really gives a movement effect and a dreamy look to them,  it's almost as though you can imagine the people that are there in the daytime, so I like how that adds a little imagination as well. The photos I took within the Freeport High School building show the Community as well. The photo of the bulletin board of Freeport High School sports I think connects to me because I play a lot of Freeport High School sports and I love sports and also the Freeport Community as a whole.
