Colored Flowers

The main idea that guided this piece was to use 84 different shades and tints of colors all in one painting. Also, a goal for this art piece was to have completely opaque solid colors with no brush strokes. I was inspired to paint flowers, even though they might be simple because I actually dont think that I have even drawn or painted flowers for a project before. I also see a lot of beauty in flowers and having the center be the main color and the petals be the tints and shades of the color made the flowers really pretty I think.

I made this artwork with different colors of acrylic paints on a canvas. To mix the paint colors I used a pallet knife. I also used a paint palette to hold and mix my paints while I worked.

Originally I thought that I was going to paint flowers with stems coming from the earth but after looking at some photos of flowers I changed my mind. I saw a photo that showed 12 flowers each in a different square and I thought that looked much better than my original idea. I then used tape to separate my canvas into 12 different sections with tape and sketched a flower in each section. The process for creating this artwork consisted of mixing a lot of paint, to create each flower with different colors of tints and shades.
