Identity: Self

Photo

In class today we looked at different ways to take self-portraits without literally taking pictures of ourselves. I found as many objects in my backpack as I could that I feel represent me in some way. I then took a photo on the table of these objects and I took a scan of my objects as well. You can tell by looking at the objects in the images that it is probably a teenage girl, which is me and I think that is pretty cool. Also, Mr. Anderson even remarked that he could tell that the bottle of lip stain in my photos he could tell that it was on my lips. So the objects I chose are a self-portrait of me.

Scan

Like we did last class, I took photos of things that I feel could be a self-portrait of me without being a physical picture I took of myself. The first image on the left is of a shelf in my bedroom that has beauty products, snacks, etc... I feel that this photo and the things shown in it represent me and are a self-portrait of me because it shows things that I use every day of my life and my habit of how I keep the surfaces in my room, and a daily pattern I have. The objects are constantly in a different configuration than in this photo, so I captured just one moment in the way they are because of me. The image on the right is of a section of one of my closets in my room, I think that this is a super interesting self-portrait because clothes are literally me. When anyone looks at me they see these clothes which are who I am and part of a decision that I make every day to represent/present myself to the world  Overall really enjoyed this project, I took around 15 photos and chose only these too and the prompt of a self-portrait without being of oneself really made me think about what are things that could represent me both externally that others would recognize in a minute or internally that I hadn't thought about before.
