Music #3

Hyped up

24" x 18"

acrylic paint, records/vinyls, CDs cassette tapes, and wired earbuds

The main idea that guided my artwork for this piece (which is my third piece) was like the first, and the second was also my inquiry question which is, “ How does music impact/ affect me?” I started by thinking about what materials I could use that connected to music and that brought me to the idea of using every type of physical music that I could think of, such as records, CDs cassette tapes, and wired earbuds.  The main idea that guided the message of my artwork is the fact that I play sports and music affects and impacts how I do that. I love to listen to music before I play soccer and during and it affects how I play the game and makes me really energetic and get super hyped up and thats where the splattered paint background comes in, because I feel like that shows my message of like the energy that the music is brings me and the tape of the cassette winding through everything is also that aspect as well.

The materials that I use all connect to music and the message I am trying to send with my art piece. I used every type of physical music that I could think of but also had excess to, such as records, CDs cassette tapes, and wired earbuds. I got all these from my Mom and also Mr. Anderson gave me some supplies as well. I also used splattered paint because it represented the aspect and my message that music hypes me up and gives me lots of energy!

An unusual thing happened with me during this specific project of the assignment. O did not start over at all or change my initial message or though I wanted to do with this project. When I came up with the idea for the project and the message I wanted to convey and I really liked it so I stuck with it. Though at first, I wasn’t going to do splattered paint as the background and then I realized how much that would make my artwork better and connect really well with my message. Also at first, I didn't plan on using the tape inside the cassette tapes (as in pulling them out of the cassette). Someone gave me the idea to do so and I really liked it and implicated it.
