The “Photogram project” was my first experience in the darkroom and I can say that it was a good experience and super fun! First off I went into the dark room with like 12 random objects that represent me that I use almost every day and pulled from my backpack. My images were my stress pills, my hair clip, my AirPods, my rings, my lip gloss/oil, my hand sanitizer, and my clear brow and lash mascara. All these objects are significant and represent me in the way that I use them every day and they make me, me.

Once I got into the dark room I set the machine to aperture to F8 and then set the light timer to 2 seconds. Once I placed my objects onto my piece of paper I pressed the timer button 5 times which exposed my piece of paper for a total of 10 seconds. After my paper with my objects in it had been in contact with the light for 10 seconds I continued by going on to the developing process. I made two different photograms one on glossy paper and one on matt paper and I rearranged the layout of my objects so I would creat different shadows and highlights and darks and lights and grays. I then went through the developing process for both of my photograms.

My first experience in the dark room with photograms overall was a good one. I enjoyed learning about the different apertures and how to make test strips and how to develop your images. Putting them in the developer, the rince, the fix, etc… and hanging them in the drying and all. Both of my photograms came out super well I feel! They both have a range of blacks whites, and grays and transparent parts and opaque parts. I usilized my objects well and my final photogram products are super cool!
