When Ms. Medsker first said we were going to draw something without being able to look at the paper my initial thought was, “Well this is not going to go well,” but I tried my best. Painting this piece of art  I wanted to make sure I didn’t just paint one picture of one thing. I wanted to make it as abstract as I could. I have never done an abstract painting or drawing or anything so it was the first time. I painted a variety of different things that all tied together in my head somehow. Whether it makes sense to anyone else I'm not sure, but it does to me. I also added a miniature black version of the Arctic Monkeys AM album cover because that was just something special for me.

I used oil pastels to draw on my paper while looking at my hand in the rock ‘n’ roll position and it was so hard to guess what I was doing on the paper when my eyes were fixated on my hand. When I looked at my page and saw what I had done, it was what was expected, un-distinguishable from being a hand or my hand. The same goes for when I drew Ava, though Jaidyn's did come out to be recognizable as a face. For the extended drawing, I chose to use the watercolor paints that came with my art packet and the paintbrush. I used a dotting technique as well as blending out the colors using water to make them lighter and distribute them more equally across the page, and a circular motion.

At first, I thought I would use markers to cover the white space, and I did start using markers, to outline what was supposed to be my hand-drawn version of Jaidyn's face. But then realized there were so many more methods I could do if I used a paintbrush and watercolor paints, so I switched to using them. I wanted to leave white space on my page to incorporate a cover of one of my favorite albums. Near the headphones, I painted music notes around it but I remembered being told to fill as much of the page as I could so I didn't want to leave that much blank. I also wanted to find a way to pick up the paint off the paper from some spaces but instead tried to incorporate mistakes and things I wanted to un-do into the abstract feature.
