About Me

My name is Tizita Rackmales, I was born in Ethiopia, but then was adopted and now live in Freeport Maine. I have one brother whose name is Robert rackmales who is 18 and a senior at Freeport High School, and I have no sister unfortunately but I would like one. At my home the only language that is spoken is English. When I was younger before I was adopted I spoke a couple of different languages but now I do not remember any of those. My career goals are pretty undecided at this moment in my life. I have had an interest in being an interior designer/decorator, I think this would be interesting because I love designing the interior of my own room and looking at different styles of decor and furniture that people design their houses with. I also have an interest in a career in being a photographer, whether that looks like traveling the world and photographing nature, or photographing people's houses, or weddings. I think that it would be cool to be a private photographer because I would be able to take lots of photographs and get paid for something that I enjoy doing. In five years I see myself finishing up college wherever that may be. I dont know at the exact moment where I want to go to college but I hope to be studying something I love and hopefully still playing soccer. I do not know anybody besides art teachers that I have had who has gone to college for art. I would say that I am most proud of the fact that I am a hard worker, and try my best in the things that I do including school, but also just in general. Also, I am proud of how I often start out trying to learn something, it will make zero sense to me and I will feel very lost but after/through my hard work I can learn a lot. In my free time, I enjoy thrifting. I think that thrifting is super fun, I think that it is good because you are using recycled clothes which is good for the environment. I also love to thrift because I can find super cool clothes usually for very cheap, and I also have an interest in fashion so it is super cool when I find vintage clothes. In my free time, I also like to spend time with my friends, rest/sleep, and binge-watch TV shows. I enrolled in Photography 2 because I really liked Photography 1 last semester. I chose to enroll in photography classes because I love to take photos and I wanted to learn how to work with film in a dark room because I have seen people do it in movies and TV shows and I thought it looked super interesting and after learning how in photography 1 I really enjoyed it and thats why I chose to also take photography 2 and I am very excited to work more with film in the dark room. A photographer that I have been interested in lately/currently is Devin Curry. Devin Curry is someone that I found on Instagram but she is also Tarynn Curry (WHo is a senior at Freeport High School) she is her sister. I like her photography because I like her style of photography which is that she follows a pattern/theme in her photography of like the same colors/tints of her camera perhaps (It's like a beige/cream/tan-ish pattern). I am not entirely sure what I feel my ideal job would be, but I know that I am interested in working as a photographer, or interior designer, or fashion designer, but I also feel like I could end up pursuing none of those careers. So I am not entirely sure what my ideal job would look like. I think that three adjectives that my friends might use to describe me would be, stylish, friendly, and chill.

Shantavia Beale, By Kehinde Wiley

I love this work of art and Kehinde Wiley's work in general because he does a great representation of race, and gender, specifically African Americans. I also like how in all his pieces including this one the flower backgrounds that he depicts his subjects in aren't just there as a background but he uses them and works them into the portrait.

Beauty Of My Dread, By Ebuka Emmanuel

I love Ebuka Emmanuel's artwork because all of the titles of his work and the work itself really magnify, in a way, black identity. I also find it crazy that he creates such a captivating realistic piece of art using just ballpoint pen on paper which I almost find hard to believe. The realisticness of his work and the emotion he shows through his work is very intriguing to me and I love it!

Løsrivelse, By Edvard Munch

I like this work of art because of the emotion that I can see within it. I remember when I learned about Edvard Munch during Foundations of Art with Mrs. Medsker she said that he was one of the artists who was against or pushed against the naturalistic style of artwork and I like how he shows that type of style in this piece. I think that the way he creates the feeling of motion and a story in this piece of work is also really cool.

Behind the Gare Saint-Lazare, By Henri-Cartier Bresson

I think that this photograph taken in Paris by Henri-Cartier Bresson is super cool specifically because of the reflection the the water. I feel as though this photograph also could be telling a story because it looks like there is some form of construction going on in the background and the silhouette figure that is jumping is clearly trying to get somewhere. I think that this photo has some great elements such as the reflection, and I also notice some selective photos as well which I think adds to the motion of the photograph.

The Great Wave, By Hokusai

I like this piece of art by Hokusai because even though it is relatively simple it is also realistic in a way. There is more to it than meets the eye at first. I did some research and those pieces of art show how these boats (which I didn't even see the boats at first glimpse) move through the crazy waves in the water, and also mount Fuji visible in the background of the piece which I also didn't notice at first glimpse either. This print is really cool to me and I always see it everywhere I go somehow. In fact I used to have it on my wall in my room but never knew about the artist or the story of the piece which I now do know. I also just think that it is interesting how many sort of hidden things there are in this piece of art.
