For this project, we were instructed to go outside and take pictures of things outside and our friends, but intended to have the guideline of having shadows and or reflections in the photos we took. Places I thought about at school where I could take pictures of shadows and reflections, were pictures such as shadows of myself or my classmates and friends, either on the concrete or in the ice that was in various places. For reflections, I mostly took reflections in windows of the school and I got a beautiful shot of a reflection within the long window of a school bus that was parked outside the school. After going outside and taking around twenty-five pictures of shadows and reflections that I saw I developed my film and chose three of my favorite photos that I took to make separate prints of apart from the contact sheet of all of the photos that I took.
The first photo that I decided to make a large single print of is one of the reflection of the school building along the entire window of the school bus. I think that this photo is super cool and the reflection and kind of haziness of it how it's a little bit blurry but also super clear in some places that's a lot to the composition of the image. While this photo is a reflection photo it's also leading lines because Maddie's also standing in the photo so I think that this also makes the photo more interesting. The second photo that I decided to make a large print of is of shadows against the brick building if the school. It is My shadow, Parker's shadow, and Maddie's shadow against the bricks. I think that this image is interesting because it's not our entire figures that are the Shadows but just from the waist up. I think that this image is a great representation of a print with shadows thats not just basic, because while I Was taking the image Parker Maddie and I were all in the process of walking by so we were facing not toward the image like it's coming at us but forward so it looks like we're actively moving in the image which I think is very cool.
The third photo that I decided to make a large print of is of My own reflection. I like this image a lot which is why I decided to make a full print of it. The reason why this image seems cool to me is because I stood on top of these stone blocks outside the track and the angle in which I took The image in the angle from which the sun was coming from made my body look super tall and stretched out and abnormal and interesting. Additionally why I like this image is because I stuck out my leg to make it a little bit quirky so it wouldn't just be a basic photo of my shadow. Overall I really enjoyed this project because the objective to find places where there are shadows and reflection was really fun, because I had to think a little more and find where i could take these images.
