Three Views of a Shoe

Artist Statement for Three Views of a Shoe:

The story with this art piece was to draw the outline of our hands and a shoe, I chose my roller skates from the musical I am in called "Xanadu" and I thought that my roller skates would make it a challenge for my three views of the shoe.

This art piece relates to my life because when we first started working on the production of "Xanadu" we went to a roller rink to practice for a big dance we are doing on skates. I was willing to try and skate, but when I went on them for the first time it was very scary, I did not know how to move, I was stuck in a position where I couldn't stop myself. I got very down on myself, but my friends in the cast came to support me and helped me skate on the rink. Drawing the roller skates were a challenge to draw but I kept trying and improving to make them look realistic.

The process of this piece was to make a light pencil sketch, before we went in darker with our pencils. I went over details many times before going over the light shades with a darker graphite of pencil because I wanted the skates outlines and perspectives to look realistic and accurate.
