The Process:

Artist Statement:

The story with this art piece was to create an image of something that the materials to create the piece connected to each other. I decided to create a collage of different materials using a reference photo of my friend.

This art piece relates to my life because the person who is involved with this piece is one of my close friends Zane who I care for very much. We were both in a play called Antigone and it meant a lot to us, and his character (Creon) was a very interesting mysterious person. He was very conflicted with the choice he had to make about killing his niece, and when he realized what he was doing was wrong, he was too late. That's what this piece represents.

The process of this piece was getting an idea for what materials I could use to connect to the piece itself. I decided to use paper and cardboard because the play is based in a dystopian world where everyone is at war with each other, and there is graffiti all around that has different quotes that are based off of opinions about people. The cardboard were what protesters used to put their quotes on during the trial, and his monologue is hidden behind him to show life through his perspective and the conflict.
