Artist Statement:

For my investigation, I want to highlight insecurities and show their beauty.

For this next insecurity, I wanted to highlight the insecurity of height. For some research I made a google form which was anonymous, and asked "is there something you are insecure about?" One of the answers was that someone was insecure about their height. I decided I wanted to draw at an angle to show the exaggeration of the height with trees. I asked a good friend of mine, Al Dawson, to use a photo of him as a reference for the drawing itself. I wanted to show the trees to show the comparison to the body and the length. Having the figure be a tree representing the insecurity of height is something I wanted to have exaggerated.

For materials, I used watercolor markers, graphite pencils, and pen. I like the way my pieces come out when I use these materials, and I thought I could blend the fade well with the pants and the trees.
