At the start of the school year, I was excited and eager to start art class for the school year! I still had not decided on if I was going to submit for the AP portfolio, so I was preparing to make that decision.
The project I enjoyed doing the most was the time capsule drawings. I decided for this work to make it have realism but in my own artistic style. I usually have a hard time with realism using graphite pencils so I wanted to show my strengths using those materials. My favorite out of all three of my works is the drawing of the eye. I took a close-up picture of my eye for a reference and I drew it the way I saw it. I saw these details in my eye that I never noticed, with how its not just one color, and how there are lines that seperate the blend of certain colors. I really enjoyed working on the piece because I was really proud of my work.
"Art relates to my life because art means so much more to me than just drawing some doodles, it impacts me because of the way it impacts others" and I still stand by that today. My favorite thing to do is make art for others. I love seeing the reactions they have to the work, along with the creative sparks they might get. I also really love experimenting with materials seeing how they may come out and how I can move or change things around. I feel like this year especially I am more focused on my work with my sustained investigation and being able to see how much growth I have had since my first art class at FHA is really cool to see. Mrs. Medsker is an amazing teacher and has been so supportive of me through my projects. I can't thank her enough for the amount of support she has given me throughout the years at FHS. I can't wait to see what the future holds.
This art class has been one of the most challenging but fun classes this year. I have had so much fun!
The project I enjoyed doing the most was the sustained investigation. I decided to use the inquery of "how can I exaggerate insecurities by making them beautiful." I had a really fun time with the creativity portion of the work, but I had a bit of an artist block during this process because I started to feel sort of burned out. Luckily during April Break I was able to push through and re design some of my works.
