Artist History Inspired

Inspiration:

I was assigned to be inspired by Georges Seurat using the movement pointillism, and another artist I chose was Vincent Van Gogh using Post Impressionism Art.

Artist Statement:

The story with this art piece was we were assigned to an artist and an artist movement and had to create an inspired art piece from their artwork. My artist that I was assigned to was George Seurat, and the artist movement was Pointillism. We also were aloud to pick another artist of our own. I picked Van Gogh, and the movement was Post- Impressionism Art because I really enjoy Van Gogh's work and his pieces remind me of my mom, which inspired me to make this painting.

This art piece relates to my life because one of my favorite pieces of artwork is Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night" painting. I've grown up with art my whole life. My mom does inspired paintings by Van Gogh, which made me want to look up to one of her pieces.

The process of this piece was to get an idea of each artist's work, and their movement. For George Seurat, I looked up some pieces of his work and found one of the Eiffel Tower, and inspired me to create the Statue of Liberty using pointillism. I wanted to do a monument from a different country considering George Seurat did the Eiffel Tower. I also did swirls inspired by Van Gogh's painting "Starry Night". My idea with this painting was "American Art Culture".
