Artist Inspired (Final)

Artist Statement : (Final picture not shown)

For this project, we were assigned to pick an artist who's work we liked, and then create a piece inspired by them.

I was inspired by the artist Jeff Nebeker, because of his work surrounding pastetries. I felt like his work was so realistic and detailed, so I wanted to take to the challenge. I first started off by making a pinch pot for the base, and making it into more of a cubed shape. I then created a single coil, and attached and swirled it to the top. I then made the top have a point to make it look more like frosting, and then carved lines out of the base of the cupcake to make it look like the wrapper. For the glazing, I wanted to use underglaze to make it more of a solid color rather than something with multiple elements of color. For the sprinkles, I took dried to underglaze bits, and sprinkled them on top of the cupcake when I was glazing the frosting.

I chose to create a piece inspired by Jeff because I was really drawn to his initial work surrounding pastries. I think it would be such a fun challenge to create some sort of pastry using clay and use similar glazes and designs to Jeff.
