Artist Statement:

The story with this art piece was we were tasked to create a art piece that involved an issue that means a lot to us. I decided to draw an image of a girl standing in front of the white house with a pride flag. This image represents hope for the future for anyone apart of the LGBTQ+ community.

This art piece relates to my life because I am a LGBTQ+ ally. This means I support them and want them to be happy with who they are and who they love. I have friends who have came out to me, and it makes me sad how scared they are when they come out, because they should be allowed to be accepted to matter what. Recent findings have shown that the supreme court wants to abolish their marriage rights which is so disgusting. Everyone should love who they want because the only thing that matters is that they are in love.

The process of this piece was to draw out the piece in pencil then add color throughout the drawing. I filled the background so it would fill the negative space. For materials I used sharpies, and black pen. I defined the drawing to make it look more cartoonish.
