Circle Project

Artist Statement:

The story with this art piece was to create something out of circles 4x5. I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do for the piece which led me to create simple things in my life that are conveniently in the shape of circles!

This art piece relates to my life because each circle means something to me. The records represent that I love music and my turntable, the fruits show that citrus fruits are my absolute favorite. The band Calpurnia, Nirvana, the Nasa symbol, these are all things that mean a lot to me. Even the simple-looking things mean a lot more than you would expect.

The process of this piece was getting an idea for an image. As I said before, this was a difficult process for me to do because I was not inspired yet. I realized what I wanted to do when I was looking around at my walls which are covered in records, posters, etc, and decided to draw things in my life that show me. For materials, I used graphite pencils, sharpies, alcohol markers, and acrylic paint markers.
