Observational Oil Stick Drawings

Artist Statement:For this piece we decided to go outside on the track and draw what we see, using only oil paint sticks.

While working on this piece I realized that it was ok if I made a mistake because it was meant to look childish in a sense. I wanted to add more details but I had a hard time working with the paint sticks so I had to improvise and use a lot of my time trying to smudge it to make it blend more. I remember making drawings like this as a kid trying to make it look very intense with my Crayola crayons.

The main material I used was oil sticks, but I also tried to include color on top of color. Adding the yellow in the trees to add that effect of the light reflecting off of it, along with the smudging of the blue behind the trees.
