The CPS extends its teaching services by sharing knowledge and expertise with the community within and beyond SQU. Its implementation is carried out through the Sustainable Development Unit (SDU). The unit's community engagement is actualized through diverse training courses and academic programs. Courses are tailored to meet these specific demands, and are taught by the CPS staff members who possess the requisite experience and qualifications for such specialized instruction. These programs/courses are designed with the active involvement of Deputy Director for Professional Development and Research (DDPDR), Head of SDU, Chair of the Central Curriculum Committee, course designers, and the concerned stakeholders. The Unit collaborates with the Centre for Community Service and Continuing Education within SQU, and other national organizations to achieve its objectives.
The head of the SDU reports directly to the DDPDR.

Coordinate and oversee community service opportunities/courses in collaboration with the organisations beyond SQU and with the Centre for Community Services and Continuing Education, SQU.
Manage the scheduling of community service courses in conjunction with the DDPDR
Collect and maintain key documents such as program materials, assessment data, and administrative records in appropriate formats
Supervise or delegate the administration of courses offered by the SDU
Draft letters of understanding with other organisations in consultation with the DDPDR
Prepare essential course documents, such as pacing and work schedules.
Manage the preparation, scheduling, administration, and grading of course assessments and examinations in collaboration with the Assessment Unit.
Oversee the acquisition and preparation of course materials and resources.
Consult with the DDPDR to assign duties to teaching staff involved in the course
Ensure timely completion of printing jobs in collaboration with the Print Shop.
Address issues concerning students enrolled in the courses.
Monitor student attendance and progress through regular updates from course teachers.
Organize teacher substitutions for absences expected to exceed one working day and maintain records of teacher absences.
Compile reports on course activities and submit them to the DDPDR in a timely manner.
Maintain an up-to-date repository of course and testing materials.
