The Philosophy of Education document was first issued in 1978 and updated in 2003 and 2009 to align with developments in the education sector. Recently, it underwent further revision to address global scientific and technological advancements, align with national strategies, and respond to directives for a comprehensive evaluation of the education system. The Education Council has implemented initiatives, including the creation of Education Strategy 2040 and the restructuring of educational stages, to elevate the quality of education in Oman.
The Philosophy of Education now covers all educational stages, extending beyond just school education, in accordance with Royal Decree No. 48/2012. It serves as a key reference for educational policy-making, emphasizing the comprehensive development of learners, citizenship, Omani identity, and sustainable development. The document is grounded in religious, scientific, national, and international principles and aims to cultivate citizens with strong faith, loyalty, and scientific thinking skills, contributing to Oman's sustainable development.
The Philosophy is derived from ten main sources and includes sixteen principles guiding the education system toward quality outcomes and future aspirations. For more information and details, click on the link below.
