The Observation and Quality Enhancement Committee (OQEC) is chaired by the Director of the CPS and the Standing Member of the Committee is the Head of the Quality Management Unit. OQEC aims at improving the teaching and learning processes in the Centre to improve the effectiveness of these processes at SQU. The Committee also aims at developing a culture of transparency about the teaching process in the CPS in which teachers feel empowered and develop the ability to reflect on their practices and work together to develop their teaching, learning and assessment in a collegiate, collaborative environment.
The OQEC is chaired by the Director of the CPS and includes the following members:
Head of the Quality Management Unit (standing member)
Attend Committee meetings and participate in projects/tasks assigned to the Committee.
Help develop documents or provide feedback.
Revise peer observation guidelines, documents and forms and suggest modifications where necessary.
Organize peer observation lists and share them with the Standing Member and teachers.
Follow up with the process of fulfilling the requirements of peer observation with selected teachers.
Help conduct the Peer Observation Feedback Survey and analyze the data.
Develop the policies of the CPS in response to the needs of enhancing high quality of teaching and learning.
Develop individual, departmental and CPS staff professional development plans that focus upon fostering observation skills in liaison with the Professional Development Committee.
Encourage, supervise and guide the process of peer observation for the purpose of sharing best practices, which includes providing observation guidelines, documents and forms, and receiving them.
Administer a regular Peer Observation Feedback Survey to teachers who have conducted the observations and analyze the data.
Prepare an annual report on the activities of the Committee and submit it to the Chair.
