Barring a Student

Procedure for Issuing Warnings and Barring Notices:

1. Issuing Warnings:

   • Lead teachers issue attendance warnings after 5% absence.

   • Students have three teaching days to provide a valid excuse.

   • Referrals should be made through the Referral System.

2. Barring Notices:

   • Issued when a student reaches the barring point.

   • Crosscheck attendance with co-teachers if applicable.

   • Initiate barring procedure via the Referral System and allow three days for response from the Student Affairs Officer.

Course Barring Percentages:

• FPEL 1-5: 10% (280 contact hours)

• FPEL 603: 15% (150 contact hours)

• FPEL 1025 & 1026: 15% (90 contact hours)

• LANC: 15% (90 contact hours)

• IT: 20% (60 contact hours)

• MATH: 15% (90 contact hours)

Approval and Documentation:

• Lead teachers proceed with barring upon approval from the Student Affairs Officer.

• All required student information and case facts must be included in the referral submission​(Barring Policy Fall 23 …)​.
