Deputy Director for Academic Programs
The Deputy Director for Academic Programs supports the Director by overseeing all academic aspects of the CPS.
Coordinate with colleges regarding the transition of students from preparatory studies to undergraduate programs.
Communicate with the Deanship of Admission and Registration and the Deanship of Student Affairs on student-related issues.
Allocate staff and resources across departments based on recommendations from the Heads of Departments (HoDs).
Inform the CPS staff about academic regulations.
Supervise placement and exit tests during orientation.
Oversee the Assessment Unit.
Manage the Student Advising and Registration Department.
Coordinate with HoDs on scheduling and follow up on timetables with the Deanship of Admissions and Registrations.
Oversee staff allocations and timetabling.
Chair the Central Curriculum Committee, Student Support Committee, Project Committee, and Students with Special Needs Committee.
Represent or delegate representation of the CPS in forums concerning assessment and curriculum.
Ensure the standardization of continuous and summative assessments in collaboration with HoDs.
Supervise the preparation and coordination of mid-semester and final exams across departments.
Arrange teacher substitutions for absences exceeding one week, with at least 24 hours’ notice.
Address unresolved academic issues of students in the CPS courses.
Oversee the collection of student records and provide regular reports to the CPS Steering Committee.
Compile and provide statistics on test scores, pass rates, and student progress as required.
Supervise the Academic Records Officer.
Recommend staffing needs to the Recruitment Committee.
Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by the Director.
Deputy Director for Professional Development and Research
The Deputy Director for Professional Development and Research assists the Director by managing all aspects of professional development and research at the CPS.
Chair the central Research and Conference Committee, Professional Development Committee, e-Learning Committee, Risk Management Committee, and Induction Committee.
Supervise the Sustainable Development Unit, the IC3 Centre and the IELTS Centre.
Oversee the Technical Assistance Department.
Develop an annual professional development plan and secure approval from the Executive Committee.
Ensure that staff development opportunities are available to enhance the teaching and learning effectiveness of the CPS faculty.
Oversee the observation and mentoring of new faculty in best teaching and learning practices.
Develop and coordinate the CPS community service practices and procedures.
Follow up with community service stakeholders and oversee the implementation of community service activities with the designated head.
Supervise the CPS research projects and annual conference activities.
Coordinate research project planning and follow-up with the Deanship of Research.
Ensure the protection of data for research projects.
Oversee the general welfare of personnel, including the orientation of new staff, training of Omani faculty, and monitoring their progress during study leave.
Supervise the implementation of SQU’s performance evaluation systems for CPS faculty.
Review and follow up on CTS results.
Supervise the procurement of teaching materials for IELTS and Community Service courses.
Address teacher grievances.
Communicate contract renewals and other relevant information to staff.
Perform other relevant duties as directed by the Director.
