Entitlement:
Omani teaching faculty members with PhDs may be granted sabbatical leave with full salary for up to one year based on a proposal and approval from the CPS, with the following conditions:
A minimum of six years of service after obtaining a Ph.D. or six years after returning from previous academic secondment leave.
Submission of a detailed research program to their college.
No disruption to teaching requirements.
No disruption to funded research projects.
Approval from the intended research institution.
No administrative or managerial responsibilities.
Submission of research work upon return for evaluation.
Allowances:
Faculty members on sabbatical leave receive allowances similar to doctoral students studying abroad. They must complete the proposed research program or repay the amounts incurred by the university.
Travel Tickets:
Faculty members on sabbatical leave receive economy class tickets for themselves, their spouse, and up to three children under 18 if the leave exceeds six months. If less, they receive a ticket for themselves only.
Non-Omani Faculty Members:
Non-Omani faculty members with PhDs may be granted unpaid sabbatical leave for up to one year, retaining housing and other benefits for their family if they remain in Oman. They must serve the university for one year after returning or repay housing and other benefits received.
