The following provide an overview of the promotion criteria for the teaching faculty members within the CPS. Further information and advice for promotion candidates are provided in Promotion Moodle Page.
The academic promotion of CPS faculty members, given the special requirements of the Centre, is based on the following criteria:
Teaching:
The quality of teaching, encompassing activities both in and out of the classroom, is of central importance in determining promotion.
Classroom instruction, curriculum development, teaching management, student advising, and scholarship in teaching are all key components.
Professional Service:
Service to the University is evidenced by participation in activities at both the CPS and university levels, such as committee memberships and academic administration.
Committees may be either permanent or ad hoc in nature.
Service to the University may also include the efficient discharge of specific formal tasks.
Service to the community, including committee membership, participation in sports events, and the presentation of public lectures, seminars, and workshops, should also be recognized.
Scholarly Achievement:
Scholarly achievement can be demonstrated through various means, including academic studies, publications, research (individual or joint), conferences, papers, workshops, lectures, awards, and grants.
The relative importance of scholarly achievement to promotion depends on the seniority of the rank being pursued.
