The Research & Conference Committee (RCC) assists in the implementation of research policies and procedures of the CPS within SQU's framework of strategic planning. The RCC represents the research interests and activities of CPS faculty and staff. It aims to foster, facilitate and support research initiatives and to liaise with SQU, external research groups or individuals who interact and collaborate with CPS members.
The committee is chaired by the Deputy Director for Professional Development and Research (DDPDR) and includes the following members:
A standing member
One faculty representative from each department
Coopted members as necessary for the smooth running of the committee (e.g. for conference, academic projects, publications)
Promote collaborative and interdisciplinary research within CPS and beyond.
Develop and implement research policy guidelines and standardized procedures for both disciplinary and interdisciplinary research.
Stimulate research activities and facilitate the exchange of ideas through organizing symposiums, conferences, workshops, and networking events.
Offer consultations and guidance to faculty engaged in research projects.
Initiate and support internal and external research projects that benefit both CPS and the broader community.
Develop, advise on, and evaluate research and project proposals for securing grants from SQU and other funding bodies.
Disseminate research findings from CPS-based studies to the wider community.
Evaluate annual research progress reports from each departmental research committee.
Communicate research-related needs and updates to the CPS Director.
Collect, edit, and publish research articles in areas like language, mathematics, IT teaching, and interdisciplinary research in CPS academic publications.
Raise awareness about ethical considerations in research among the CPS faculty and staff.
Carry out research-related initiatives under the supervision of the DDPDR.
Maintain and archive important records and correspondence related to research activities, and prepare an annual research report.
Facilitate consultancy services and assist in providing support and expertise to the faculty engaged in research.
Maintain records of research activity in the CPS.
Provide advice, support and expertise to faculty engaged in research.
Provide support for approved research.
Initiate discipline based and interdisciplinary research projects and promote research in the CPS.
Provide opportunities for the dissemination of research findings.
Organize presentations and workshops on research related matters for the CPS.
Prepare an annual report on the activities of the committee and submit it to the Chair.
Propose budget estimation for conference organization.
Liaise with different departments of SQU to organize the conference.
Liaise and follow up with the CPS Director of Administration for conference publicity and invitations.
Form working groups for various steps and stages of the conference organization:
Participation proposals, exhibition, publications, registration etc.
Ensure that the conference website is updated and well maintained.
Provide a short report on conference proceedings biennially.
