The Appeal Committee is an essential component of the academic structure within the Centre for Preparatory Studies (CPS) at Sultan Qaboos University. It is tasked with processing student appeals in a prompt and fair manner, ensuring adherence to CPS regulations and standards.
Committee Officer: Approved by the Deputy Director for Academic Programmes upon nomination from the Head of Department (HOD).
Members: Up to four representatives from different course groups within the department, including two from Credit courses and two from Foundation Program English Language (FPEL) courses, and one each from Math and IT courses.
Initiate appeal cycles in coordination with the HoDs and Course Leaders.
Liaise with the Students Affairs Officer and course leaders to ensure a cohesive approach to handling appeals.
Evaluate students appeals and take decisions based on approved criteria.
Report appeal decisions to the Assessment Unit and HoDs.
Prepare an annual report detailing the committee's activities, decisions, and any recommendations for procedural improvements to the HoDs.
