The Departmental Curriculum Committee (DCC) is a key committee that oversees the development and ongoing evaluation of curriculum practices within departments. This committee ensures that the courses meet current educational standards and are effectively aligned with the needs of both students and faculty.
Committee Officer: Approved by the Deputy Director for Academic Programs upon nomination from the Head of Department (HOD).
Members:
Nine to ten members representing Foundation Program and Credit courses in English.
Two to four members representing Math and IT courses.
Identify the needs of the department regarding curriculum-related matters in collaboration with course leaders.
Cooperate with the Central Curriculum Committee (CCC) in presenting curriculum-related matters to course leaders in conjunction with HoDs.
Liaise with course leaders in conveying course leaders' curriculum recommendations/questions to CCC.
Cooperate with the CCC in providing feedback on learning outcome coverage in midterm and end-of-semester tests.
Provide feedback on the tests from a curriculum perspective when required.
Collaborate with the CCC on regular course reviews within the department and keep a record of course review outcomes.
Reviewing courses will take place every Fall semester.
Reviewers will be members of the CCC and DCC.
Review departmental course outlines on a regular basis.
Participate in reviewing curriculum-related projects assigned by the CCC every Spring semester.
Follow up on the implementation of Spring curriculum-related projects every Fall semester.
Ensure that curricular standards (learning outcomes, assessment matrices, SQU teaching philosophy, pacing schedules, rubrics, etc.) are maintained in the department.
Participate in projects that aim to improve current curricular practices.
Oversee the integration of e-learning instructional materials into the courses in liaison with the departmental e-Learning Committee.
Prepare a brief report on departmental curriculum-related matters and submit it to the HoD, cc’ing CCC. This should be done by the DCC Officer.
