The Central Curriculum Committee (CCC) coordinates the curricular activities of the CPS Courses. Its main focus is to oversee the development, evaluation, and consistent improvement of the curriculum and assessment policies.
The committee is chaired by the Deputy Director for Academic Programs and includes the following members:
A standing member
Officers of Departmental Curriculum Committees
Three to four teachers (preferably CLs) from each department, nominated by the Head of Department (HoD) for two renewable years
Discuss and address issues related to curriculum and assessment policies, making decisions where applicable in collaboration with HoDs and relevant bodies.
Propose policy changes on curriculum-related matters.
Evaluate and suggest the development of courses and curricula that are common across all courses in collaboration with HoDs and relevant bodies.
Review and approve purchase orders for teaching materials, including texts and online resources, from various departments.
Manage material review projects, which may include piloting new materials or adapting existing materials as needed, in collaboration with the Departmental Curriculum Committee (DCC) and HoDs if required.
Manage and oversee course reviews to ensure their relevance, quality, and alignment with curricular standards.
Provide advice on curriculum-related project proposals submitted by the departments.
Chair committee meetings in the absence of the Deputy Director for Academic Programs .
Ensure that tasks are completed and that decisions made by the committee are implemented.
Submit periodic progress reports to the committee for discussion.
Work in liaison with the DCC to review and revise the learning outcomes of the CPS courses on a regular basis and when needed .
Establish and maintain effective communication lines between the CCC and CPS departments, as well as between Course Leaders and the colleges of SQU (through the Director) or associated HoDs.
Oversee all curriculum development projects, including conducting needs analyses.
Coordinate with the DCC to manage the work of the materials development project teams, convened on an ad hoc basis.
Supervise writing, piloting, editing materials, ensuring copyright compliance, and producing print-ready versions.
Monitor the design and implementation of new curricular materials.
Manage the database of curriculum materials and files.
Liaise with the Assessment Unit to ensure coordinated workflow between curriculum development and assessment.
Organize workshops and related activities to disseminate information about the curriculum to relevant stakeholders.
Prepare an annual report on the activities of the committee and submit it to the Chair.
