The Assessment Unit (AU) is tasked with the development and administration of placement and exit tests in English, Math, and IT, as well as mid-semester and final exams of all CPS courses. The unit coordinates closely with the Deputy Director for Academic Programs (DDAP) and Heads of Departments on all testing-related issues.
The AU is comprised of the Head of the Unit, Test Developers, a Test Administration Coordinator, and a Records Officer. The DDAP oversees the activities of the unit.
Oversee the work of all members of the unit.
Liaise with Heads of Departments on testing matters.
Advise on CPS testing policy in consultation with the DD for Academic Programs and Heads of Departments.
Plan and manage CPS testing functions in relation to the needs analyses and curriculum design.
Liaise with the Central Curriculum Committee to ensure that tests and examinations are based on the objectives of the current curricula.
Supervise and manage the CPS Placement, Exit, and Mid-semester and Final tests in all subjects.
Supervise and manage assessment procedures for the CPS courses.
Generate all test administration related documents.
Run final checks on all tests and AU documents before printing (or online testing).
Oversee the preparation of Assessment Reports on students’ performance.
Lead and supervise testing projects and other professional development work.
Organize and chair workshops, seminars, conferences on testing.
Liaise with the Deputy Director for Academic Programs on interviewing and selecting AU members.
Manage the database of CPS test banks and testing materials.
Prepare the CPS exam timetables and staff allocation for invigilating and marking of exams.
Supervise the work of the Testing Records Coordinator.
Liaise with the Print Shop, CET, and CIS to ensure smooth functioning of the CPS tests.
Liaise with the Community Services CPS Officer on administering Continuing Education Placement Tests (CEPTs).
Supervise printing and secure storing of CPS tests and test-related materials.
Determine CPS testing policy in consultation with HoDs, DDs, and, if required, CLs.
Plan and manage CPS testing functions in relation to the needs analyses and curriculum design.
Arrange for standardization/moderation sessions and procedures.
Participate in benchmarking studies and meetings with other higher education institutes organized by the Quality Management Unit that involve sharing best practices testing.
Conduct benchmarking studies for the CPS Exit tests when required.
Teach for up to 6 hours per week.
Work on test development and administration under strictly secured working conditions (i.e. in a specially designated secure offices).
Supervise and manage assessment procedures for the CPS courses.
Manage the CPS test bank and testing materials for respective courses.
Ensure the reliability (consistency and fairness) and validity (assessing the intended skills) of continuous assessment across all CPS courses.
Write and pilot CPS test materials.
Arrange and run standardization/moderation sessions/procedures.
Conduct workshops, presentations or special projects as requested by the DD for Programs and the AU Head.
Invigilate, monitor and oversee tests as required.
Help determine CPS testing policy in cooperation with HODs, CCC*, CLs, and AU Head.
Liaise with the CLs and AU Head concerning course and student data when necessary.
Manage and update Placement and Exit test banks.
Plan and manage CPS testing functions in relation to the needs analyses and curriculum design.
Update CCC, CLs and HODs on testing matters as needed in program meetings.
Liaise with the Curriculum Committee Chair on matters related to the curriculum, teaching materials and testing.
Collect and organize CPS test scores in a database.
Maintain appropriate test databases for the records of the CPS.
Generate placement and exit tests’ results and result reports.
Attend all exam board meetings
Liaise with the Department of Student Advising and Registration on SIS reports as required.
Retrieve data for research purposes as requested upon approval by CPS senior administration.
Provide statistics and reports related to admissions, students’ records, and test results as requested by the Director and Deputy Directors.
Manage databases for students’ records.
Follow up on student appeals and update the spreadsheet if required.
Carry out any other relevant work assigned by the deputy director in charge pertinent to academic records.
