Monday 7th July 2025 - Our Open Mic Night started with Simon introducing Muriel for her "Calling Debut" who, despite being quite nervous, wowed the crowd with her patter to "Irish Dew". After she was finished she was met with rapturous applause from the dancers who were all impressed by Muriel's clear instructions. Declining to attempt a singing call the tip was completed by Simon.
Muriel was followed by David S who, accompanying himself on his ukulele, started with patter to "Music Box Dancer" followed by his favourite singing call "Chantilly Lace". Sporting a Western-style hat, David unfortunately stood in front of a speaker so that, when his photo was taken, it looked as if he was wearing an enormous Top Hat!
Julie was next with her lovely singer "Country Roads" - another crowd pleaser.
After Julie, Peter G came to the front making his first appearance at a Waggoners Open Mic Night with patter to "Teddy Bears Picnic" followed by the singer "Bring Me Sunshine". Simon suggested that when Peter was receiving his applause, he should have adopted the traditional Morecambe and Wise skipping jump!
Next came Michael D with patter to "Nash Bash" followed by our Treasurer David H who used "Desert Sands" for his patter and "Some Broken Hearts" for his singer.
Penny W returned us all to our childhoods as, after patter to "Sweet'n'Sour" she used "Robin Hood" for her singer with the dancers joining in with the well-known chorus!
Trudy and Simon concluded the evening by congratulating all the Open Mic Night participants to warm applause before treating us to their lovely duet "A Love Song".
