On Monday 12th May, Waggoners held a Red, White and Blue evening. As VE Day 80 (the 80th Anniversary of the ending of the 2nd World War in Europe - 8th May 1945) had been celebrated the previous week by the Nation, Penny managed to find some singing calls to fit the theme.
Two squares danced throughout the evening. Penny was able to recap the moves learnt by Students the previous week as well as teach them "Flutterwheel","Sweep a Quarter", "Put Centres In", "Cast off Three Quarters" and "Ferris Wheel".
David Strachan provided entertainment during the evening by playing his ukulele and singing a repertoire of songs which would have been sung during the war.
When we had a second break, Wendy and Helen joined David at the front of the hall and they sang together whilst encouraging everyone to join in.
As was observed at the end of the war, everyone formed a circle to sing and dance the "Hokey Cokey"!
It was very much a fun evening.
