Monday 6th January 2025 - As Simon was feeling a bit under the weather Trudy called for us this evening with a guest tip from Penny. With extremely cold weather sweeping the country we decided to dance our two squares in the Dining Hall which was decidedly warmer than the Main Hall. Penny, Barbara and David H brought along sweets for everyone to share and we sang Happy Birthday to Barbara who was celebrating her birthday today.
Monday 13th January 2025 - As the weather outside was still cold, we decided to dance in the Dining Hall again this week and, with three squares, it was quite snug but reminded everyone of the importance of keeping squares "tight". Sadly, Simon was still not feeling 100% so Trudy called for us with guest tips from Penny and David, both giving us singing calls recently added to their repertoires.
Janet brought along sweets to share in celebration of her birthday later this week and we sang Happy Birthday to her and Keith who is also celebrating his birthday this week.
We announced that Wendy, one of our "Spring" students had become a grandmother last week with the arrival of baby Oscar. Congratulations to Wendy and her family!
Monday 20th January 2025 - On yet another cold evening we danced in the Dining Hall and, when everybody danced, we had three squares. Our Spring and Summer Students were introduced to "Thars" from their different positions and learnt how to "Slip the Clutch" and "Shoot the Star" in order to get out of them.
A photo of Pat taken with her flowers at the Christmas party was published on the Community News page of the local Mercury newspaper.
Monday 27th January 2025 - We had three squares dancing this evening, again in the Dining Hall, and the Spring Students, having now learned all the Mainstream moves, were introduced to a slightly faster pace by Trudy and Simon. There were guest tips from Penny, calling to the Spring Students, and David, calling to the Autumn Students.
To honour International Holocaust Remembrance Day we had a candle placed on the Treasurer's table (it would have been too dangerous to have lit a candle with everyone dancing around the hall so we lit a battery powered one instead).
