May 2022

Monday 2nd May 2022 - We were closed this evening due to the May Day Bank Holiday

Monday 9th May 2022 - Although there were only 2 squares this evening, Simon was on very good form with several speedy tips including lots of revision on "trade" moves. He even introduced "phantom" couples and had the members  guessing and amused as they danced with them. Today was the birthday of David S and on Wednesday it will be Simon's and they were both sung to in the usual manner. In the photo David is holding a card made for him by Sue W. David was given the choice for the final singing calls of the night and chose Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" and another Rock and Roll number.

Friday 13th May 2022 - Friday 20th May 2022

Janet, David and Julie had a great time on the All Square at Zero cruise to the Norwegian Fjords organised by Kevin and Annika Lovell. Over 50 dancers and their spouses/friends were on the MSC Virtuosa and had the opportunity to Square Dance at 9 sessions in the ship's Sports Hall.

Monday 16th May 2022 - Another evening when we only had two squares dancing and, as there was a shortage of ladies, some of the men had to don pink bands and dance as "lady". Our Treasurer, David, and our Secretary, Janet, were away on a Square Dancing cruise to the Norwegian Fjords so we were very grateful to Michael D who stood in and took the money and these photos of the evening.

Pamela Collinson

Monday 23rd May 2022 - We were back to three squares dancing this evening to Trudy and Simon, and our trainee callers, Penny and David both also took to the stage. We were very pleased to wish a Happy Birthday to Maggie S who will be celebrating an "0" birthday later this week. We were all very sad to learn that our member, Pamela Collinson, passed away in the early hours of this morning, surrounded by her family. Our deepest sympathy goes to them all.

Monday 30th May 2022 - Celebration of

H.M. THE QUEEN'S PLATINUM JUBILEE

We had three Squares dancing this evening to Trudy, Simon and guest caller, Penny.

The hall was decorated with Union Flags and red, white and blue bunting and everyone came dressed in patriotic red, white and blue. During the break we enjoyed "Jubilee" cakes, courtesy of Sainsbury's.
