June 2023

Monday 5th June 2023 - When we last met on the 22nd May, before the Spring Bank Holiday, we could only manage to dance one square but this evening, with everyone dancing, we had three squares. Trudy and Simon revised the moves "Spin Chain Thru", "Tag the Line" and "Half Tag" for our Students and went on to teach them how to "Fold" from various positions and then to "Scoot Back".

We congratulated our Student, Karen, who attended the Viking Squares Campout over the Bank Holiday and coped very well with the Mainstream dancing, welcomed back Caitie, who has not been able to come to Waggoners for several weeks, wished John B  a very Happy Birthday for later this week and belatedly wished Maggie S a Happy Birthday for her special day in May.

Our guest caller this evening was Penny who, after some patter, sang "End of the World" while we danced.

Monday 12th June 2023 - On a very warm, humid evening we danced two squares with a guest tip from David. We were pleased to welcome back Julie and Sandy, who have both been away on holiday cruises to Norway (not together), and Ron P who has not been able to come to Club for some time. The Students were shown how to "Cross Fold", "Cross Run" and "Dixie Style to an Ocean Wave". Julie and Brian were presented with their first Waggoners Club badges and Barbara had hers updated from one given to her many years ago.

Saturday 17th June 2023 - On a very warm afternoon Penny and David, along with fellow new callers Suzanne Fletcher-Mallinson and Alan Edwards  called at a dance in Cirencester sponsored by Corinium Squares.

Bob W and Janet H went along to provide moral support.

Monday 19th June 2023 - As Trudy wasn't feeling 100% Simon called on his own this evening to three squares. In the absence of David, our Treasurer, Michael kindly stepped in and collected the weekly subs and David S kindly stepped in and locked up at the end of the evening.

Monday 19th June - Friday 23rd June 2023 - Keith, Jackie, Janet and David were in Symonds Yat for the week dancing Plus and A to the American caller, Johnny Preston.

Sunday 25th June - London & Home Counties Regional Callers Assembly Summer Friendship Dance - Despite it being very hot, Penny, Bob, David C, Sandy, Karen, Caitie, Janet and David H enjoyed a great afternoon of Mainstream dancing called by Trudy and Simon and with guest tips by Colin Turvill and Peter Garratt.

Monday 26th June - On a warm evening we danced three squares to Trudy and Simon with a guest tip by David who gave us "Time Slips Away" as his singing call. The Students were taught to "Recycle" and we sang "Happy Birthday" to Trudy whose birthday was last week but she had not felt well enough to come to Club.

The members were told of a planned visit to Waggoners in two weeks time by Melani and Uta, Square Dancers from Germany.
