June 2022

Monday 6th June 2022 - Penny and David were again "Flying Solo Together" as they called to two  Squares in the absence of Trudy and Simon. Our thanks to David S for again acting as M.C. and to Micheal for standing in as Treasurer. We had a fun night and enjoyed chocolate cakes during the break.

Monday 13th June 2022 - We were very pleased to receive a visit from Kerry Brabant, the founder of the Charity "Herts Musical Memories", who had come along to accept our donation of £500 - money raised at our Easter Party. Our Chairman, Bob, presented the cheque to Kerry. Although she had not Square Danced for over 25 years, Kerry joined in a tip with us.

Earlier in the day several Club members had attended the funeral of our dear friend, Pam Collinson. The photo shows the Order of Service together with a yellow rose, Pam's favourite flower.

Trudy on her birthday

Monday 20th June 2022 - HOEDOWN

We were very pleased to welcome 13 ladies and gentlemen who came to join us for a fun evening of entry level Mainstream dancing. Trudy and Simon taught them everything they needed to know to be able to dance what was called. During the break we all enjoyed fairy cakes and chocolate cakes with our squash.

Today was also Trudy's birthday and after we had all sung "Happy Birthday", David, our Treasurer, presented her with a card and small chocolate cake, on behalf of the Club.

Saturday 25th June 2022 - MID-SUMMER DANCE

We were very pleased to welcome our Caller for the evening, Eddie James, who, along with his wife, Jeanette, had travelled down from their home in Bury St Edmunds.

After some late arrivals, we had four squares and Eddie gave us a fun evening of Mainstream dancing including an "Eight Chain" your couple number in the square and a "Grand Square" with everyone moving backwards at the beginning. Included in Eddie's singing calls was "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts" which he said was the oldest in his collection!

Dancing a "Hot Hash"

Bob and Penny

Monday 27th June 2022 - Trudy was unable to be with us this evening so Simon called on his own to the two squares present. Later in the evening he called a "Hot Hash" - non-stop dancing at a faster pace than usual - which everyone taking part enjoyed. We had two couples who will be celebrating their wedding anniversaries this coming weekend - our Chairman, Bob, and Penny and Rosaleen and John who will have been married for 40 years. Simon did not have his usual "Happy Anniversary" song with him but he played another from his collection. Congratulations to both couples.
