December 2021 at Waggoners

Friday 3rd December 2021 - Monday 6th December 2021 - Janet and David H, Janet and Bob F and Ann S spent a very enjoyable weekend at the Trouville Hotel's "Taste of Christmas" Square Dancing event at Sandown on the Isle of Wight. Although numbers were down on previous years, we danced 3 - 4 squares all weekend to Di Green and Terry McCann. The group picture shows Janet, David, Janet, Bob and Ann together with Ray, a friend from Lister SDC. Trudie T, known for her distinctive footwear, showed off her "Christmas Tree" effect shoes which flashed as she danced (as long a she remembered to charge them up!)

Monday 6th December 2021 - On a cold evening we danced 3 squares to Simon and Trudy. In preparation for our Christmas Charity fundraising Party on the 20th December, we started selling "Lucky Squares" - trying to match numbers 01 - 100 to a £50 note obtained unseen from our bank by our Treasurer, David. The winner will win the £50 note, all other money going to the Charity. This year we are raising funds for Herts Musical Memories.

Monday 13th December 2021- Waggoners was closed this evening as Trudy and Simon along with 33 members and spouses went for a very enjoyable Christmas Social Meal at Wodson Park Sports and Leisure Centre in Ware. During the evening we all took part in two table quizzes compiled by Michael D - one identifying Mainstream moves with all the vowels taken out and the other about numbers in film titles. After coffee, mince pies and After Eights David H held a fun raffle where all the tickets were called and the winning ticket holder could choose to take the prize already chosen by another person. Only those people with their ticket left on the prize at the end actually went home with it. 

Monday 20th December 2021 - Unfortunately, due to the rapid spread throughout the country of the Omicron variant of Covid 19, we reluctantly took the decision to close Waggoners tonight as we were concerned about members becoming unwell just before Christmas. Our planned charity fundraising event will be held in the New Year.
