Open Mic Night 2018

Our annual Open Mic Night was held on the Monday before Easter, 26th March 2018. There were five volunteers taking part, two of them performing at this event for the very first time.

David H was the first to appear and he chose to do a patter call using moves he had choreographed himself.

Our first "first time caller" was Penny and she read out some patter routines that she had previously worked out to "Raindrops keep falling on my Head". She was joined on stage by a smiley-faced balloon which Simon nicknamed "Penoji! (a mixture or Penny and Emoji).

After the break, during which we enjoyed Hot Cross Buns with our drinks, it was the turn of David S who started his tip with a patter call using moves he had worked out himself. He then transformed into the "Dodgy Bopper" for his favourite singing call of "Chantilly Lace".

Last to the stage came mother and daughter, Jacqui and Cherie. Jacqui went first with her patter call of moves she had choreographed at home using her "dollies". Next came Cherie who only performed her first singing call on New Year's Day and was appearing for the first time at an Open Mic Night. Her choice of song this time was "One Call Away". Jacqui then joined Cherie on stage for their duet of "When I See an Elephant Fly". Videos of these performances can be seen below.

At the end of the night all five performers took to the stage for a well deserved round of applause.

Our thanks go to Simon and Trudy for the help and support they give to new callers.
