October 2022

Monday 3rd October 2022 - Trudy and Simon were away this evening so Penny and David were again "Flying Solo". They had both worked hard beforehand devising choreography for the evening including a tip each especially suitable for our new dancers who are still in the early stages of learning to Square Dance. We were visited by our member, Jeff R, who brought along some flat boxes to be filled as part of the Rotary Shoebox Scheme - gifts for disadvantaged children and adults in Eastern Europe. Waggoners members have generously supported this scheme for several years.

Monday 10th October 2022 - WILD WEST themed night - We were very pleased to welcome a new dancer, Karen, who has come to learn to Square Dance with us. Most of us dressed to fit the "Wild West" theme sporting denim jeans, checked shirts and cowboy hats while others interpreted it in a different way including a Native American woman and  a Mexican woman with poncho and wide sombrero. During the interval we enjoyed baked beans, frankfurters and bread with a cup of tea or coffee to wash it down.

Monday 17th October 2022 - In the absence of Trudy and Simon, who were enjoying a few days away, Penny and David called for us this evening. We danced two squares and, on a cold night, were grateful for the fan heaters in the hall as, it being half-term, the School's central heating  was not on.

Saturday 22nd October 2022 - Fifteen members of Waggoners, Penny, Bob W, Sue, Bob F, Roy, Brian, Ann, Barbara, Jackie, David C, Janet H, Janet F, Julie, Keith and David H  attended the Cuffley Square Dance Club Afternoon Dance in Northaw and had great fun dancing Mainstream and Plus to Paul Bristow.

Monday 24th October 2022 - Last Monday (17th October) was the 90th birthday of our member, Ron P. As he was celebrating with his family on that day he did not come to Club but this week bought us all cakes, which were very well received. We had all signed a card for Ron, which had been made by Sue W., and this was presented to him by our Treasurer, David, Afterwards we all joined in with the singing of "Happy Birthday" followed by a round of applause.  David was our guest caller this evening, calling to two squares, and Trudy and Simon continued their teaching course for our new dancers when we had three squares dancing.

Monday 31st October 2022 - Our Treasurer, David,  was having a night off tonight so David and Gill S kindly stood in for him collecting weekly subs and deposits for the meal in December at Wodson Park. They also both locked up at the end of the evening. Only 3 of our new dancers were able to join us and they were introduced to four new moves.
