Monday 8th April 2024 - Many of our members seem to have been on extended Easter holidays so we could only manage two squares. Our new dancers were taught "Dive Thru", "Do Paso", "Rollaway" and "Courtesy Turn". David was our guest caller this evening and his tip excluded any moves that had not yet been learned by our new dancers.

Dancing to Penny
Monday 15th April 2024 - Unfortunately, we were just short of three squares this evening. Trudy revised the moves shown to the new dancers last week and then went on to revise "Dosido", "Star Thru" and "Grand Slide". The new moves taught this week were "Lead Right", "Lead Left", "Veer Right" and "Veer Left". Penny was our guest caller this evening and for her singing call used "Venus in Blue Jeans".
Penny did not feel the words for "Venus" were appropriate for a female singer so re-wrote them using the same tune but, imagining herself to be Cinderella, to "My Hero, Prince Charming".
Monday 22nd April 2024 - On a cold evening we danced three squares to Trudy and Simon and were pleased to welcome back some of our members who have been enjoying extended Easter breaks. Trudy and Simon revised all the moves the new dancers had learned so far including "Do Paso", "Rollaway", "Lead Right", "Lead Left", "Veer Right" and "Veer Left". The new moves shown this week were "Chain Down the Line" followed by "Circulate" in its various forms e.g. "Couples", "Ladies", "Men", "Outsides", "Insides" using a Scalextric track as an example of following your own path. Penny and David were guest callers this evening, both calling to include our newer dancers so their repertoire was limited by only being able to use the moves learned so far. Penny gave us "Always on my Mind" as her singing call and David "If you knew Susie" as his. Penny and David will be our callers on the next two Club nights while Trudy and Simon take a well-earned break.
Monday 29th April 2024 - In Trudy and Simon's absence our callers tonight were Penny and David who each called two tips then swapped throughout the evening. Penny opened the dancing and revised "Chain Down the Line" and "Circulates" which had been taught last week. After calling a Mainstream tip, David set about teaching "Bend the Line" to our new dancers and before too long the whole floor was successfully carrying out this move. David provided Lemon Drizzle cake and Cherry cake for us all to enjoy during the break when we also wished a "Happy Birthday" to Janet F. who celebrated over the weekend. The members were reminded that we would not be dancing next week, due to the Bank Holiday, but we hope to see everyone back on the 13th May.
