Monday 5th January 2026 - Our first Waggoners meeting of 2026 was an extremely cold evening. Unfortunately, the central heating at Hertford Prep could not be turned on due to low oil supplies but they had provided three oil-filled radiators which provided some warmth. We had forewarned the members to wear extra clothing and gradually throughout the evening the outer layers were discarded as we warmed up. Simon reported that Trudy's health was greatly improved but due to the cold and the length of time she would be away from home, he came to call for us on his own. There were enough dancers for two squares but only if Simon joined in as well which he did for many of the Tips throughout the night. As he had not brought his radio mic along he had to call and sing loudly so that we could hear him. Despite the difficulties it was a fun evening which we all greatly enjoyed, enhanced by the big box of Dairy Milk chocolates brought along by our Treasurer, David.
Monday 12th January 2026 - We danced two squares to Simon with a few "spares" this evening and with guest tips from David and Penny. Barbara brought along cakes in celebration of her birthday last week and Mihaela provided Lebkuchen (German cookies).. We sang "Happy Birthday" to Barbara and our Secretary, Janet, who will celebrate this coming weekend. At the end of the evening there was just enough time for Simon to call a "Hot Hash" tip for those confident enough to dance more complex choreography at speed which they all enjoyed very much.
Monday 19th January 2026 - On a wet evening we danced three squares on occasion, but mostly two, to Simon and with guest tips from David and Penny. During the interval we enjoyed cakes brought in by our Secretary, Janet, in celebration of her birthday over the weekend. David, our Treasurer, made lemon drizzle cake which was very popular with the members.
