Scotch Scones

Made in Cindy's Kitchen, North of Wiarton

Recipe Source:  Canadian Formulas for Good Cookery Ontario Cookbook Volume 1

2 cups flour

1/2 cup sugar

1 t. salt

4 t. baking powder

5 tbs. shortening (margarine)

2/3 cup milk

1/2 cup currants (optional)

Sift the dry ingredients.  Cut in shortening.  Add currants & milk.  Turn out and knead on floured board.  Pat to the right thickness.  Cut into 4 rounds, or 8 wedges.  Place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper and  bake until browned at 450*F or at 425*F Convection for approximately 12 minutes.
