Hamburg Soup

Made in Cindy's Kitchen, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard"
Recipe Source:  Maxine Cameron, as given to me by my Auntie Glady, both residents of Port Elgin, ON

Hamburg Soup

2 Ibs. Ground Beef, browned with one large onion

I-- 28 oz. Tin of Canned Tomatoes

2 Cups of Water

1 Can Mushrooms with Liquid

1 tsp. Garlic Salt. 2 tsp. Basil, 2 tsp. Oregano

2 Cups of Chopped Celery, 2 Cups Chopped Cabbage, 1 Cup Chopped Carrots.

1 Can Green Beans with Liquid.

Combine all Ingredients. Cover with a 48 oz Tin of Tomato Juice. Simmer 3--4 Hours

Salt and Pepper to Taste. I add some Season Salt as well.

Makes One Gallon-- Plus


NOTE:   Adjust water as required.  Also, I added pasta, as per my hubby's request; another very tasty full-bodied soup.  Also I used Red Onions and Red Cabbage.
