N.Kumar associates: Duplicate account numbers and more

• M/S N. Kumar replaced M/S Vihar Aahar as contractor for Visitors Hall. M/S N. Kumar is also mess contractor for Hall I and Hall X.

• An examination of wage slips of 84 workers at VH has revealed some disturbing pattern regarding EPF, ESI and Bank Accounts. For example:

  • Three pair of workers are reported with same EPF account.

  • Four workers have been reported with no EPF account even though there is EPF deduction from wages.

  • Two pair of workers have been reported with same ESI account.

  • Four workers have been reported with no ESI account.

  • A pair of workers and another triple of workers have been reported with same Bank account number.

Please note the observation above are from wage slips obtained from one work location, and that too for just one month! By what we understand, the malpractices are rampant. In any case, from the observations above, it is clear that EPF, ESI, and wages are not properly being accounted for. For how long this kind of discrepancy has been going on remains unknown. It is very likely that similar issues exist in Hall I and Hall X managed by same contractor.
