2019-08-13 : [All] Update on injured worker and appeal for generous contribution

Dear All:

This is to inform that Mr. Pavitra Das, the injured worker in recent accident on the construction site of Earth Science Department building, is recovering well. You may recall that he was shifted to Madhuraj Nursing home from the LLR Hospital. In this connection, the hospital has raised a bill of approximately Rs. 5.2 lakhs. They have also informed that Mr. Das would need about 10 more days to fully recover and this would require additional Rs. 4 lakhs. While the Institute has clearly instructed the hospital to extend all necessary medical support for his early recovery and is taking care of his medical expenditure, we will also need significant financial support for the family of the diseased workers and for initial settling of Mr. Das post discharge from the hospital after recovery.

As per the details available, we have been able to collect about Rs. 3 lakhs till today in the form of contribution from the campus community. This mail is a gentle reminder to contribute generously to the “Contract Workers Welfare and Relief Fund” as per the information circulated earlier. As mentioned earlier, it is proposed to keep the contribution channels open till August 14, 2019. However, this date can be extended further by a few more days, if required.
