Communications on David Thomas report.

  • 11th December 2013. As of now we are still waiting for the promised "detailed reply" from the institute, like we are, on many other issues of concern.

  • 10th December 2013. We write a mail to alumni highlighting the details of the case. You can read the full communication here.

  • 1st November 2013. We haven't yet received any response from the DR (Legal) or otherwise. Therefore as a collective we are considering to raise this discussion in the wider fora. In this context, we write a letter to David Thomas, which (along with the whole thread of communication) can be accessed from here.

  • 12th June 2013. We are informed by the institute that the REPORT IS REJECTED! and provided with a copy of the report. As we learnt later that month from Mr. David Thomas, he was not informed about the rejection and learnt about the same through this email (via an alumni associated with Citizens' Forum).

  • 17th May 2013. We write a detailed response to the decision clearly stating that classifying a report submitted to IITK as confidential, as an afterthought, is technically wrong and violation of the provisions of the RTI Act.

  • 7th May 2013. We receive a decision on our appeal from IITK still denying the report.

  • 3rd April 2013. Since we still do not receive any sign of report being made public, we filed a first appeal to the response to IITK under RTI act.

  • 11th March 2013. We receive a response to RTI, denying our request, suggesting that the report cannot be made public since it is still under review and not accepted yet.

  • 8th Feb 2013. Since several explicit requests from the President, Alumni Association (who is also a Citizens' Forum member) for a copy of the report went completely unheeded, we filed an RTI. You can take a look at the copy of the RTI.

  • Late 2012-Early 2013. Citizens' Forum learns of a certain David Thomas report as several institute officials (including the Director) hail it in various forums including in various meetings and discussions with Alumni Association (late 2012) as well as Citizens' Forum and Hamara Manch (early 2013).

    • However note that none of the workers Citizens' Forum or Hamara Manch communicated with had any idea of the committee or the report. Nor did the committee informed of its existence or agenda to concerned individuals either from within campus (associated with Hamara Manch) or within alumni (associated with Citizens' Forum).

    • Several explicit requests from the President, Alumni Association (who is also a Citizens' Forum member) to IITK for a copy of the report went completely unheeded.
