Dear Mr. Handa,

Thank you for your letter. I congratulate you and the others at Citizen's Forum for your commitment to our alma mater and to basic human rights.

In my report I had tried to highlight the need for the Institute to have a policy about contract workers. At the moment there is none and the Institute simply stumbles and bumbles from one crisis to another hoping desperately that things will not really get out of hand.

I believe that IITK has now hired a Labour Officer. That is a good step but without a policy, I wonder what he/she will do.

I am glad to know that Citizen's Forum is taking up the Contract Worker's issue and if there is any specific way in which I can help, please do let me know.
