Citizens' Form reminder to Dean of Resources and Alumni, Nov 2013

Prabhat ji,

I am following up on the issue of uniforms which I had raised about 5 months ago, in May 2013. Your response was that you will look into it after your return from holidays.

I presume that workers are still being forced to wear those uniforms. While we have had the luxury of wearing summer shirts, they have endured the Kanpur summers in the awkward uniforms. But the real concern which had been raised was that of different colours which identifies the type of work they do and as sanitation workers, they are sensitive to this subtle discrimination.

Two suggestions had been made in my previous email without an additional cost. We hope that you will take up this issue with your colleagues and meet with the workers to come up with a workable and dignified solution for both parties.

We at Citizens' Forum believe that it is a question of their human rights and dignity.
